Free Apple iPad, Nintendo Switch or AirPods Pro for NEW OCBC Credit Cardholders in Singapore 2024

January 18, 2024 by Bino Leave a Comment

Receive S$300 cash via PayNow or Apple AirPods Gen 3 with Magsafe Charging Case and Charger (worth S$333.50) or Samsonite Volant Spinner 68/25 EXP + 3x Apple AirTag (worth S$616.20) or Hinomi H1 Classic Plug Ergonomic Office Chair with Headrest (worth S$459) when you apply and get approved for the OCBC 90N Visa, OCBC 90N Mastercard or OCBC Rewards credit cards as new cardholder (those who have not held an OCBC card the past 12 months).

If you apply for the OCBC 365 or OCBC Infinity Cashback credit cards as a new OCBC cardholder, you can get an enhanced gift consisting of either Nintendo Switch OLED (worth S$549) or Apple iPad 9th Gen 10.2 Wifi 64gb (worth S$508.30) or Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer (worth S$699) or S$300 cash. Spend S$500 within 30 days to receive the sign-up gifts. Sign-up through the individual card links below. Promotion ends on the 31st Jan 2024 (11:59PM).

Plus, as a flash deal, snag a Dyson Airwrap multi-styler (worth S$859) if you are the first 5 applicants of any participating OCBC products at 12pm, 3pm daily on top of the existing sign-up gift. The flash deal ends on the 24th Jan 2024 (11:59PM)

Annual fee is waived for the first year for all the cards listed below. OCBC usually waives the annual fee for succeeding years as long as you actively use the card but if not, you can always cancel to avoid paying the annual fee.

Note that this offer is valid only if you apply via the below exclusive links (direct application with OCBC doesn’t count for the promotion). Why is that so? Singsaver actually acts as an aggregator and partner for OCBC cards and from time to time, Singsaver and OCBC may jointly fund the gift in order to split the marketing expense between them.

After clicking submit on your credit card application, make sure to take note of your Application Reference Number. You will have to fill out a redemption form (automatically sent to your email once you make a card application) in order to be registered. If you choose to get the cash gift, do ensure that the phone number you fill out in the form is the same as the mobile number for you to receive PayNow payments.

Once your card is approved, remember to spend at least S$500 (can be in multiple transactions) within 30 days of receiving your card in order to receive the reward. You will get an email within 90 days with instructions on how to claim your gift. If you are looking for ways to spend S$500 within a month, there’s that time-honored method of buying vouchers from NTUC Fairprice and paying for it with your credit card.

Here are the OCBC cards that qualify for the promotion:

Go Singapore Pass – Is it Still Worth Getting in 2024?

January 4, 2024 by Bino 4 Comments

You may be dreaming of your next escape right now – while planning a getaway far away might not be an option at this point in time, there are lots of activities locally in Singapore that can keep you entertained.

The Go Singapore Pass is a sightseeing pass that allows one to experience 50+ tourist attractions in the Lion City without having to purchase tickets on the spot. It’s brought to us by GoCity.com which covers 26 (and growing) cities globally including Bangkok, Dubai, Sydney, Hawaii, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, San Diego, New York, Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Berlin and more.

I have been covering the Go Singapore Pass for nearly 4 years now and a recurrent theme are repeated price increases – which simply reflect the current inflationary situation. The corresponding attractions in Singapore have also repeatedly marked up their admission fees. Here, I discuss on whether the Go Singapore Pass is still worth getting for 2024.

Annual Fee: No annual fee

Minimum Income Requirement: S$30,000 per year (Singaporean/PR); S$42,000 (foreigner)

Why is the sign-up gift so attractive?

The traditional way of getting new card sign ups – that of hiring promoters and organizing roadshows in areas with heavy foot traffic – actually cost a lot of money. Many card companies have resorted to doing it online for the past few years – often through the help of aggregators such as Singsaver. The cost saving allows them to offer attractive gifts from time to time such as cash, luggage or in this case, the Apple AirPods Pro. In this case, both the credit card issuing bank and Singsaver could also jointly fund the gift.

Fulfillment of this promotion is done by Singsaver. You can check here for the full T&C.

HSBC TravelOne Credit Card – Is It Worth Getting?

June 5, 2023 by Bino Leave a Comment

HSBC has recently launched a new general spending credit card called the HSBC TravelOne Credit Card which offers a range of benefits for frequent flyers. Although it is fundamentally a general spending card, it is designed to cater to the needs of travelers based on the benefits that come with it. These benefits include access to airport lounges, travel insurance and rewards points that can be redeemed for flights.

One of the key features of the HSBC TravelOne credit card is that it is linked to nine frequent flyer programs, including some less common carriers. This means that cardholders can earn rewards points on their HSBC TravelOne card, which can then be transferred to their preferred frequent flyer program. In this article, I aim to break down the features and the cost of getting the HSBC TravelOne Card and determine if it is worth getting.

P.S. Before you apply for this card, make sure to read this article until the end, especially if you don’t have any existing HSBC card. You’ll thank me later.

Latest Credit Card Sign-up Bonuses & Promotions in Singapore (June 2023)

June 4, 2023 by Bino Leave a Comment

I have a number of posts in scattered about featuring various credit card sign-up promotions. To make them easier to view, I have compiled them here. For my readers who are used to my bank-specific promotions – I present to you a one-stop glance into what three major card issuing companies – HSBC, Citibank, DBS and Standard Chartered are offering at this point in time. Promotion durations are also listed below for convenience.

The credit card sign-up gifts are indeed quite attractive but do note that to get the higher valued gift, you would need to be a new cardholder. A new cardholder is defined as one who has not possessed a card by the respective card issuing company for at least 12 months. A common strategy by some folks is that they sign up for a card by xxx company, cancel the card after receiving the gift, wait for another 12 months then reapply.

How to Get a Schengen Tourist Visa in Singapore For Filipinos, Indians, Indonesians & Others With Helpful Tips For Visa Approval (2023 Update)

May 15, 2023 by Bino 210 Comments

Many of my long trips over the past five years have been in Europe and since I require a Schengen visa to enter most countries in the continent, I have applied in various embassies here in Singapore. Generally, my experiences applying for a Schengen tourist visa have been very procedural. Several documents are required for presentation but as long as one manages to fulfill them, there are barely any questions asked — unlike the application process for other countries for example.

In this guide, I aim to show how nationalities such as Filipinos, Indonesians, Indians and others that are not visa-exempt can get a Schengen visa in Singapore.
